Things started to change rapidly as soon as the door opened at Reykjavik airport,i jumped on the bus into town over to the regional airport we were meant to depart at 10;30hrs then it went to 11;30 to 12;30 at 13;00 it was go go go,the plane was loaded there was 11 Inuit folk and me self,we headed northwest hearts pumping, nerve jumping, dreams coming through,it was a ride from hell,we got over Greenland and then the pilot announces we are not getting in,the landing strip is being blasted by heavy winds and snow,we crossed the arctic circle at 10,000 ft sitting in row 2 with a engine blade roaring outside the window i thought to me self why the hell did i take extra insurance for, there is now body coming to save us here,so after 2hrs to the target 1hr and 2 attempted landing we turned back and let me tell ye it was the lights of the coast of Iceland that brought me back to life,
so its plan 2,i have spent the last few hrs in the hotel room tracking weather and have accepted were not getting in,
so I’m heading north through Iceland there is a flight to akureyri tomorrow and weather looks good up there, one thing i have learned on this adventure you can plan all you want its the arctic that decides to let you in or not, and i don’t have a problem with that this was not my time but i will try again someday maybe not in December, but for now I’m going 36hrs and i need a shower and some sleep i came to get the lights and i will get the lights,
happy are those who dream dreams and are will to pay the price to make them
come through
